Guidelines if you have to postpone or reschedule your wedding
It is 2020, you were supposed to get married soon, but the Corona (Covid-19) virus has made that impossible…
Or maybe there are different unforeseen circumstances that have forced you to postpone, either way you are heartbroken…
Just to let you know, I AM HERE FOR YOU! I know this is not easy, but you are not alone… Thousands of other couples are going through the same experience right now.
All the wedding service providers (your venue, photographer, DJ etc) are all feeling the same emotions.
I am by nature a very positive person, so I KNOW (like I really know) you will have your dream wedding day come true! 🙂 It might not be when you planned, but it will happen for you…
Here are a few guidelines and things to keep in mind when you have to postpone or reschedule your wedding:
EMBRACE YOUR EMOTIONS – there is nothing wrong with crying and being angry. Acknowledge how you feel, but then you have to decide to start being positive.
Life has always been unpredictable. Even though a world pandemic doesn’t happen every day, I know you are equipped emotionally, spiritually and physically to get through this…
ACCEPT THE REALITY – you now have to accept what has happened and make peace with the fact that you have to postpone your wedding.
DON’T LET THIS STEAL YOUR JOY – especially your joy as a couple and your excitement for your wedding!
CONTACT YOUR VENUE – ask then what dates they still have available for 2020 or even next year.
Be open to weekday or Sunday weddings.
Now is not the time to be too picky with a specific day… I promise you, your guests will still attend 🙂
CONTACT YOUR SERVICE PROVIDERS – now that you have available dates from the venue, you now have to see which of those dates all your service providers are still available.
Remember that wedding service providers are easily booked 12 months in advance.
With a weekday wedding, you will have a better chance of securing all your service providers.
DECIDE WHICH DATE WILL WORK FOR YOU – you need to make sure that the date suits you as a couple, and the important family members you want at your wedding. Again, everyone needs to be understanding during this time… The friends & family who really wants to be at your wedding will make a plan; they will take off work for one day or even just 1/2 a day.
CONSIDER AN ELOPEMENT OR INTIMATE WEDDING – You could perhaps still get married on the date you planned (during this pandemic). It can just be the 2 of you with 2 witnesses and the wedding officiant. If you had to reschedule due to any other reasons, this could still be an option.
GO OVER THE CONTRACTS – make sure you understand all your different vendors’ contracts; do they have any cancellation or postponement fee? For me personally during this time, I do not have any postponement fee, and I know most other vendors also don’t. But you could lose some booking fees if a certain service provider is not available on the date you choose.
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR GUESTS – a great way to do this is to setup a wedding website.
You can keep them up to date on any date changes.
HELP YOUR GUESTS – your friends & family have probably made bookings for accommodation, remind them to reschedule this as well. Or you can even make a group booking at a hotel or guesthouse.
RESCHEDULE YOUR HONEYMOON – You will also have to get in touch with your travel agent to help you reschedule your honeymoon.
CELEBRATE THE DAY ANYWAY – your original wedding date might have changed, but you can still celebrate the day. Find a way to make it special for you as a couple. 🙂
Words from Southern Sound:
**We also don't have a postponement fee and have frozen our prices.
No new rates for 2021 will apply and we have created a Plan A + B.
Please keep in mind, that we are all in this together and trying to support and accommodate as many of our couples as we possibly can.
If our Plan A + B can't work and we are no longer available, cancellations fees as per our contract will apply.
We are here for you every step of the way and will assist you to the best of our ability to make your dream come true.
We have aligned ourselves with 2 other DJ's that can help on the days where we are no longer available.
**AT NO ADDITIONAL COST to you!
But, this is only a plan A + B, as we would still love to be part of your big day.
As Southern Sound, we have frozen our rates and for the moment and we will have NO increase for 2021.
The good news, even though we only have 3 Saturdays open for the rest of the year, we still have plenty of Fridays and Weekdays available, even on Sundays! Please, we urge you to be open to that idea.
We have plenty of available Saturdays for 2021 (as we only have 4 booked dates so far)
And if you and your fiance need to move your date to the new year, we can definitely assist at no additional cost or rate ❤️
This is more than just the music, this is a journey we face together.
